PentaBlocks Difficulty System
PentaBlocks is tuned around progressive challenge, not random spikes. As levels increase, board geometry, piece variety, and timer pressure evolve together. This keeps each new band meaningful while still solvable.
Difficulty Bands
| Band | Level Range | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 1-10 | Core controls, simple fit recognition, generous timers |
| Moderate | 11-30 | Path planning, avoiding dead-end cavities |
| Hard | 31-60 | Branch control and faster correction |
| Very Hard | 61-90 | Dense layouts, strict timers, advanced shape ordering |
| Extreme | 91-100 | Top-end speed and precision under pressure |
What Changes Behind the Scenes
Difficulty is affected by board dimensions, piece count, shape composition, and target timer. Higher levels prefer piece sets that produce tighter constraints and fewer trivial openings. The system avoids unsolvable sets and validates puzzle integrity before use.
Why This Matters for Players
You can predict the kind of skill each range tests. If you plateau, practice one band below your current limit and then return. This is usually better than grinding only the hardest board you unlocked.
